Health and Physical Education

Bethune’s Health and Physical Education Department offers activity and fitness based courses that aim to promote a healthy active lifestyle. We believe that true student success can be achieved when one learns how to live a balanced life. We explore the importance of balance by exploring topics on Mental Wellness, Healthy Decision Making, Conflict Resolution, Healthy Eating and Personal Fitness. We then put our belief into practice by encouraging our students to join co-curricular activities. We offer 15 courses, run 28 sports teams, an athletic council (Athletic Bears Council), and several clubs.

    Compulsory Grade 9 Credit


    PPL2OF - Healthy Active Living Grade 10

    Activities: Field Hockey, Golf, Rugby, Doubles Tennis, Soccer, Volleyball, Basketball, Tchouck Ball, Dance etc.

    Healthy Living Unit: Body Image and Nutrition


    PAF2OF - Personal Fitness and Weight Training Grade 10

    Activities: Weight training routines that build muscle strength and definition, Yoga, Kickboxing, Hip-Hop Dance, Nutrition, etc.

    PSK4U1 - Introductory Kinesiology

    This is a university preparatory course where we learn how the human body reacts to exercise. We will also explore the history and culture of sports.

    Course Content: Anatomy and Physiology, Somatotyping (find your body type), Athletic Performance analysis, Nutrition and Metabolism, Fitness program design, The impact on Sport on Society etc.
