Grade 8 Parent Information Night

It was great to see so many students and families come out to our first In-Person Grade 8 Parents’ Night in a few years. We enjoyed meeting all of you and talking with you about why Bethune is such an exciting and special place to be for your children. For families that wish to review the details discussed in our presentations and for those that were not able to attend, we’ve included the presentation and the handbook from the event here:

For students that live outside of our area...

You will need to apply for Out-of-Area Admissions (formerly Optional Attendance).

Here are the Steps to Apply for Out-of-Area Admissions
  1. Check your home address.
  2. Apply for Out-of-Area Admissions if you do not live in the Bethune Area.
    • Our status is Limited for 2023-2024. For more details, refer to  Bethune's Out-of-Area Admissions status.  
    • We are accepting Out-of-Area Admissions applications.
    • Submit the TDSB Out-of-Area Admissions application Online.
    • The application is now completely online through the TDSB website and will open on Monday January 9, 2023.
    • Application must be submitted by 4pm on Friday, January 27, 2023 .
    • Parent/Guardian will be notified of the initial results on Wednesday, February 8, 2023. 
  3. Parent/Guardian will be notified of the initial results on Wednesday, February 8, 2023.
  4. There will be 2 additional rounds of admissions offers on February 15 & 22, 2023, if space is available.
  5. Students must finalize their acceptance on February 27, 2023 by completing their course selections on www.myblueprint.ca/tdsb

  • Applicants will apply online through TDSB's central application that will be posted on the Out-of-Area Admissions website linked above.
  • If you require support completing the form, please contact your current school.
  • Families may select up to two (2) schools and must rank their choices.
    • If the student is selected for their first choice, they will not be considered for their second choice. Please be certain about your ranking before you submit your application. Once submitted it cannot be changed online. You will need to contact your current school.
  • Read through the information at the above link for the TDSB Out-of-Area Admissions process as there are many dates and details to be aware of.

For students that live in our area...

  • If you are currently attending a TDSB school for Grade 8, complete your course selections for Dr. Norman Bethune C.I. with your grade 8 school through www.MyBlueprint.ca/TDSB according to the timelines set by your grade 8 school.
  • If you are currently attending a school for Grade 8 that is NOT in the TDSB, Connect with Betty Ho in our Guidance Office at Betty.Ho@tdsb.on.ca to book a registration appointment in March 2023.
