Students are required to complete 40 hours of community involvement as part of the requirement for their Ontario Secondary School Diploma. Students can start earning their community hours after they have completed grade 8.
Students are encouraged to do more than required 40 hours for many reasons. This encourages civic responsibilities, promotes community values and supports career exploration. As well, many scholarships are tied NOT ONLY into marks but community involvement as well.
