Students are required to complete 40 hours of community involvement as part of the requirement for their diploma. In order for community hours to count for Diploma requirements, students must have started their high school program. When students have completed their 40 hours, they should hand in their Community Involvement Passport signed by their parents and supervisor(s). The Passport should be handed in to the Guidance office. Students may also pick-up their copy of the passport from the Guidance Office.
Students are encouraged to do more than required 40 hours for many reasons. This encourages civic responsibilities, promotes community values and supports career exploration. As well, many scholarships are tied into NOT ONLY marks but community involvement as well.
More information about volunteering opportunities can be found on the Volunteer bulletin board in the cafeteria and in the Guidance office.
